Have Fun This Labor Day

September 2, 2015

LaborDayThe summer season is winding down, the new school year is about to begin, and the weather will soon turn to cooler days. Labor Day marks the last long weekend of the season, so why not get out with friends and family for a great time of fun and festivities? There is a lot to choose from when it comes to holiday celebrations in the San Francisco area. I have listed below some great ideas to help you plan your Labor Day fun.

One of the most well-known and well-loved festivals of the year is the Sausalito Art Festival. In its 63rd year, the festival runs from Friday September 5th– Monday September 7th and is a feast for the senses from art to music, food, and plenty of fun activities. The arts festival is held at Marinship Park in Sausalito and will showcase some of the finest art around. There are so many artists of varying genres from paintings, to ceramics, photography, jewelry, and more. It will take the entire weekend to see them all. A special treat is in store this year with a special 50th Anniversary Performance Celebration of Jefferson Airplane, the Grateful Dead, and the San Francisco sound as the festival kick off concert.

Another outdoor festival celebrates our quality of life and the beauty of public open spaces in an around San Francisco. The Yerba Buena Gardens Festival is an incredible music festival not to be missed. The celebration will be Sunday September 6th and includes free admission. Providing free events is part of the mission of the Yerba Buena Festival. The goal is to provide family programs and community events that enrich the region through the inclusion of our varied cultures and creative outlets. The music festival brings classical, contemporary, jazz, traditional dance, and world music to one venue. There will be plenty of food and drink on hand for an afternoon and evening filled with incredible music.

When was the last time you were at the circus? Well now’s your chance to go again, or for the first time. Ringling Brothers & Barnum Bailey Circus is in town Labor Day Weekend, September 3rd – 7th. Cow Palace in San Francisco will come alive with classic circus acts including acrobats, clowns, animals, and more. Take a walk down memory lane or create some great new ones with the kids this holiday and enjoy the circus.
