DISCOVERY BAY TO BREAK ANOTHER WORLD RECORD, JUNE 29TH

More than 3,000 participants and attendees are expected to participate as Discovery Bay attempts to break it’s own World Record, Saturday, June 29th!

Discovery Bay’s Paddle for Fame event currently holds the World Record for the Largest Paddle Boat Raft-Up (2007-Guiness) and, also for the Largest ManPowered Boat Raft-Up/Flotilla (2010,2011,2012-World Record Academy).

Last year, approximately 1,000 people came together on the water to join 621 paddlepowered vessels for the World Record.

FUN ON THE WATER AND ON LAND! FAMILY ACTIVITIES! MUSIC! FOOD!

This year, Discovery Bay aims to beat it’s own World Record for the Largest Man/Paddle-Powered Boat Raft-Up/Floatilla. If you can paddle it, it counts. Now in it’s 7 th year, this event will celebrate with a large-scale increase in landbased activities, as well. From 11am-4pm attendees will enjoy wine tasting, great food, dozens of vendors and family activities, too. This year’s Concert by the Bay (3:30-7:30pm) will be one you don’t want to miss, featuring the fun party band “Cocktail Monkeys”. Be prepared to bring your dancing shoes! This year’s event is partnered with the Discovery Bay Chamber of Commerce – the DBCOC directors have breathed new life and excitement into the land-based activities, and promise a great time for everyone.

FUN AND FREE!

This is a fun and free event, open to anyone who wants to participate. Paddle for Fame isn’t just a World Record event – it’s a wonderful day in the sun, splashing around with your community, and enjoying the best of what Discovery Bay has to offer.

The World Record Academy will recognize the World Record by photo confirmation, and signatures of two local officials. To be included in the count, every man-powered kayak, paddle boat, paddle board, canoe, etc. MUST be connected in the raft-up at the time of the fly-over photo at 3:00 PM (a later flyover time than previous years). There will be several fly-over photo attempts, to ensure every participant is captured and recorded.

The 7th Annual Paddle for Fame event will take place Saturday, June 29th, at the Discovery Bay Yacht Harbor. Paddle for Fame website: www.paddleforfame.com and on Facebook: Paddle For Fame.
