Improve Your Home While You Still Live There

May 20, 2008

I see it all the time, homeowners who want or need to sell their homes and have to scramble to make repairs and improvements in order to get their house market ready. So why wait? You don’t have to break the bank to make improvements that will raise both your home’s value and also your enjoyment and comfort while you live there.

Over the next few weeks I’ll offer several inxepensive ways to increase your home’s resale value as well as the home improvements most likely to give a good return on investment.

Today’s tip: PaintPaint Brush

For about $50 or so you can buy 2 gallons of Kelly-Moore or Behr interior paint, enough to paint the ceiling and walls of a 12 by 16 room. Stick with factory-mixed neutral colors as they are easy to match later if needed and most likely to show well for prospecive buyers.

If you aren’t much of a painter, spend a few minutes on the web learning some tricks to make it easier on yourself. Then do the job as if you will keep the house for many years to come and you win whether you stay or sell!
